The Heath Business and Technical Park is to stage a special community event on June 1st to mark The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee as part of its ‘Eat@TheHeath’ programme to combat loneliness and isolation for the elderly and those who live alone.
Eileen Miller, The Heath’s Site Charter and Community Manager, says: “At the end of each month we organise a ‘Eat@TheHeath lunch for local residents but we are delaying our May luncheon by a week so that we can stage a special celebration that will coincide with The Queen’s Jubilee. Guests who attend on Wednesday, June 1st will have an afternoon tea with Bucks Fizz and non-alcoholic drinks and be entertained by singer ‘Lainey’ with lots of patriotic songs.
“We want everyone who attends to wear something red, white or blue, or indeed all three colours, for what is sure to be a wonderful and celebration to commemorate The Queen’s 70th anniversary. Our monthly lunch get togethers are proving incredibly popular with local residents, but it is essential that anyone wishing to attend must book their place as we are certain to be over subscribed.” Bookings can be made by emailing eileen.miller@SOG.ltd.uk but numbers are limited.
The Eat@TheHeath programme, a platform for local people to meet up on a weekly basis, is sponsored by The Heath’s owners SOG Group. As well as the monthly lunches and music sessions, there are also weekly gatherings with community forums on topical subjects and a chance to engage with the local Police Community Support officers who have an office at The Heath.
SOG has even bought a minibus to provide free transport for any elderly people who cannot get to the site under their own steam. The weekly gatherings are organised by Eileen and Alison Albion from The Heath’s Community Team along with The Heath & Beechwood Police Community Support Officers, Louise Croft and Tracey Taylor. A number of SOG volunteers also support Eat@TheHeath by serving food, cleaning up after events and driving the minibus.
