The Heath to host ‘Big Coronation Lunch’ to mark the crowning of King Charles III

Runcorn: April 20th, 2023: The Heath Business and Technical Park will be hosting a special lunch for 200 guests from the local community on Wednesday, May 3rd to celebrate the coronation of King Charles.

Billed as the ‘Coronation Big Lunch’, the event is being organised by Eat@TheHeath Community Group which was set up and sponsored by site owners SOG Ltd to develop a community programme to combat loneliness and isolation for the elderly and those who live alone.

Lady Anne Dodd, the widow of legendary comedian Sir Ken Dodd, whose nephew John Lewis MBE  owns the business park, will be guest of honour at the lunch.

Eileen Miller (pictured), The Heath’s Site Charter and Community Manager, says: “Our Eat@TheHeath events are hugely popular, and our coronation celebration promises to be the highlight of the year. Each guest will receive a commemorative coronation gift on arrival with a glass of fizz to toast the King. The Heath’s chef will have ’Quiche Le Reign’ on the menu, the signature dish chosen by King Charles and the Queen Consort especially for the coronation.

“The Heath’s Events Hall will be prepared by volunteers to ensure it looks resplendent in red, white and blue with lots of entertainment and live music for people to sing along and dance to. Each table will be invited to nominate one guest to participate in our indoor curling competition for which there will be a prize for the highest score. There will also be a raffle with prizes donated and all proceeds going towards subsidising our community summer outings. Every table will have a £10 Asda gift voucher beneath a plate on the place settings too.

“Our 200 guests will be made up of the weekly and monthly attendees to our Eat@TheHeath events along with special invitations to the Halton Carer’s Centre, Runcorn’s M-Power Activity Services and to some local dignitaries.”

As well as Eat@TheHeath monthly lunches and music sessions which provide a platform for local people to meet, there are also weekly gatherings with community forums on topical subjects and a chance to engage with the local Police Community Support officers who have an office at The Heath. SOG has even bought a minibus to provide free transport for any elderly people who cannot get to the site under their own steam.

The weekly gatherings are organised by Eileen and Alison Albion from The Heath’s Community Team.
