Runcorn: June 21st, 2022: Andy Young works for specialist engineering services company Engenda Group at The Heath Business and Technical Park, but away from his day job he is a highly accomplished amateur photographer.
Now, thanks to Andy, The Heath’s Café and Bar areas have been transformed with large scale prints of local scenes which form a gallery of more than a dozen of his finest photographs.
Andy, who lives in Runcorn, was asked to undertake a dawn to dusk assignment touring the Liverpool City Region to take shots of some of the area’s most famous landmarks which would then be enlarged and placed on display at the business park. The images that now adorn the walls of the café and bar have been scaled up to 2.4 metres in length.
Says Andy: “I put together an album of around 60 photos that were then judged by The Heath’s Projects Team who selected 13 images that are now displayed in The Heath Café and Bar. The shots include the iconic Beatles statue in Liverpool, Liverpool Waterfront, buildings which form the city landscape and the Runcorn bridges across The River Mersey.”
He adds: “I dropped in to the café before work this morning and it was so surreal to see my photos on display. I’ve never seen my photographs printed to such an enormous scale before, it was really amazing.”
Andy has his own extensive online gallery https://www.flickr.com/photos/130507156@N04/albums where you can enjoy the full extent of his talents. He also runs various photography courses in his spare time and is eager to share his passion to audiences at seminars and exhibitions. He recently gave an inspiring talk to the Eat@TheHeath community club for the over 50s where he gave a presentation of historical photos of Runcorn alongside scenes that he has shot showing the modern-day town and surrounding area. Andy is also working alongside a local historian to create a book combining the local history of Runcorn and his photography of the area today, that is due for publication later this year.
Lesley Banks, The Heath Sales & Marketing Manager, says: “The photo gallery was the idea of Head Chef Stephen Hartley and has resulted in a brilliant display of wonderful iconic local landmarks that adorn the walls, and have certainly been a big talking point for our customers. The photos reflect and underpin The Heath’s commitment to our local community.”
