Darren Scott celebrates wins at the European Masters Championships

Darren Scott, PT at The Heath Gym, shines at the European Masters Championships in Madeira 8th–19th October 2025

Held in Camara de Lobos Stadium, Madeira, Portugal

GB Masters athlete Darren Scott delivered a commanding performance at the 2025 European Masters Athletics Championships held on the picturesque island of Madeira. With over 4,000 athletes from across Europe competing. Darren began his campaign in the Decathlon, competing against 37 other elite athletes. His early performances were nothing short of remarkable:

 🥇 1st in the 100m

🥈 2nd in the Long Jump

💪 6th in the Shot Put, setting a new personal best

🏆 1st in the High Jump, clearing 1.65m to set a new national record 

Despite being in silver medal position Darren then made the strategic decision to withdraw from the Decathlon and focus on his sprint events—a move that paid off handsomely.

🥇 Sprint Dominance in the M55 Category Darren stormed to double gold in the 100m and 200m sprints, clocking times of 11.96 seconds and 23.88 seconds respectively. Already ranked No. 1 in the UK, Darren’s victories confirmed his status as Europe’s fastest M55 sprinter.

🥈 Relay in a British Record Adding to his medal haul, Darren got the GB Team of to a great start in the mixed 4x400m relay team taking a silver medal, helping set a new British record in the process.
